CLUDs Lab
We aim to generate a positive impact by combining internationally-based research activities with the non-academic sector
CLUDs Lab mainly focus on the physical and spatial transformations of cities and territories generated by the ongoing socio-economic dynamics. It operates in the field of urban regeneration and local sustainable development with the aim to understand the complexity of local dynamics by exploring new data-driven approaches.
The ultimate goal is to establish a strong and permanent connection between European Research Projects and European Development Funds and to transfer the knowledge created in development opportunities for the local community.
The CLUDs Lab is part of the PAU Department of the Università degli Studi Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria (Italy) where it operates since 2011 in the aftermath of the CLUDs Research Project (Commercial Local Urban District) funded by the 7th European Research Framework Program under the Marie Curie Actions IRSES 2010.
Thanks to the EU and Italian funded research projects, the CLUDsLab has activated a solid international network combining research and higher education activities. The experience gained since its foundation allowed to wide the exposure of experienced and early stage researchers to the international academic community and to increase the expertise of young professionals to address the complexity of the socio-economic challenges to face.
CLUDsLab is currently called to contribute to the academic and policymakers debate on relevant and pressing challenges for the European Union. Topics such as Resilience and Transition Management (TREnD), Innovation Ecosystems creation through special opportunity zones (ZES), and Territorial Knowledge Dynamics activation (SOUND) are just the recent focus of EU (Horizon 2020) and National (PRIN) funded Research Projects.
